It is always easier said than done. Going to the gym, eating healthy, drinking more water, and being more positive are things that many of us strive to incorporate into our lives. We start but then we stop. We make resolutions and then let them fizzle out. Why is this? Lack of discipline. Period.
Being disciplined is simple, you have to hold yourself accountable. Don't be fooled though; I said it was simple, I did NOT say it was easy. You do not have to worry though, because there are things you can do every single day that can teach you self discipline and few things are more rewarding than that. Prioritizing, applying intrinsic motivation, time management, and holding yourself accountable are necessary factors for discipline. We call this your PATH.
Prioritizing
Find out what NEEDS to be done to reach your goals. Do you need to go to the gym at least three times a week? Good, do that. If someone invites you to dinner on a night that you had planned for the gym, stick with your priorities.
Applying Intrinsic Motivation
What gets your off of the couch? Is it how you feel after a good workout and some fresh air? Good, hold onto that feeling and never stop thinking about your desire to be healthier.
Time Management
Do you have kids and a full time job? You may not have a lot of time, but you have to make it. Do you have 30 minutes? Good, use it.
Holding Yourself Accountable
Did you skip the gym yesterday? Does anyone know? You need to push yourself and hold yourself accountable. You do not need to prove anything to anyone, except for yourself. That's right, get off your ass and do something. Start here!
